Making up for Lost Time?

I’ve kinda been diving headfirst into being a social city girl. It’s kinda out of character for me (or at least it’s a big departure from how I’ve been for many years past), but I think that embracing the experience of living in The City is a good thing. I can’t believe I’ve lived in the Bay Area almost my entire life (save 2-3 years) and I’ve never lived in SF. So much of my time in the past has been spent travelling back and forth to The City… I think I ended up knowing the stretch of 101 between the Silly Valley and SF like the back of my own hand.

So as fun as it is to be out and living The City Life, I think I’m wearing myself a little thin. Moderation, moderation.

It’s just so tempting, though! All the art galleries, shows and social events… can’t do it all. Gotta remember that.

Why Blog?

In answering some questions from Jesse via IM, I figured it’d make a good, easy post.

why do you want a photolog?
I want a photoblog as a portfolio of sorts. I know that I have Flickr, but as time has gone on, I have been dumping almost every photo I take onto there, not separating out the “good stuff” too often… I look at Derek’s Ephemera as inspiration… Gallery, feedback and purchase of photos.
why do you want a blog?
I have a blog because I use it as an outlet of sorts. Although my blog(s) have become more impersonal as of late, I like the personal aspect of blogging in general. Sharing stuff with people I know and those who I don’t know just yet… I’ve met a lot of people via blogging and it’s actually helped me become more social and meet more people. I guess it’s easy to find people that you might get along with by reading their blogs… people with similar interests and beliefs.
Knowing that you have an audience, no matter how small, is kinda cool. That you don’t have to inconvenience anyone with a middle of the night phone call to rant. I know that sounds kinda lazy, but it’s true.
I actually initially started a blog because I had a lot of friends & family to keep up with and I was kinda tired of the mass email thing. I actually started with a bulletin board, but no one used it, only me. So I started blogging. Without a CMS, at that.
why do you want them to be separate?
Keeping the photoblog and blog separate might be obvious from my answer to question 1. The photoblog is more professional (hopefully) and the blog more personal.
as for 2), what kinda posts do you plan to do now?
I would prefer to be more personal again. I was kinda hit with a realization that I enjoyed blogging more when I had only a few readers… and in turn, felt more comfortable talking about my life.
Everyday, boring shit. No one really cares much and it doesn’t really gain you a big readership, but I liked having the chronicle of my everyday life for some reason.

There ya have it. This is the second or third time I’ve gone through a blogging identity crisis, and now I am trying to find myself again.

Yay, new blog toys. Like most bloggers, I ask myself, “Do I really need another blog?”

Answer: No, not really.
